Double Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 12 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. Whisk together flour and salt

  2. Cut in shortening until pieces are pea sized using pastry cutter or food processor.

  3. Sprinkle one tablespoon of water at a time over flour mixture. Toss with fork and push moistened dough aside. Repeat until all water has been used.

  4. Dump mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Continue to fold mixture over on itself to combine until dough holds together. Divide in half, wrap each half and refrigerate.

  5. Form crust by rolling each dough half into a round shape between two sheets of plastic wrap.
